Most Improved Player: Dejounte Murray, San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs haven’t been the most exciting team in the NBA. The biggest news of the season was their assistant head Coach Becky Hammon receiving a head coaching job in the WNBA. The Spurs starting point guard, Dejounte Murray has certainly elevated his play this year with improved shooting and decision making. It may not show up in the win column but he is making his impact known on both ends.

With the trials and tribulations Murray has been faced through the course of his career, this season has been his best thus far. He is averaging 18.8 points along with nine assists. The one stat that stands out is his career-high in steals with 2.1. Using his length and athleticism, Murray has always been known as a great perimeter defender.

But this season he has turned things up a notch. Through the season, Murray has displayed multiple triple-double performances that provided a spark for the Spurs. It’s without question who has been the leader in San Antonio this season.
