NBA Trade Deadline Roundtable: Ben Simmons on the move; bold predictions
Which Western Conference playoff team will make the biggest move?
Saenz: Dallas Mavericks. I believe this front office is going to go all-in in trying to find a second star to place next to Luka Doncic.
Knitzer: Utah Jazz. They were in a tailspin even before losing Joe Ingles to a torn ACL. This team reeks of late Westbrook-era Thunder, and their internalized crisis of faith will be their undoing if they don’t get several new two-way faces in the rotation. Expect at least two of Ingles, Jordan Clarkson, Mike Conley, and Royce O’Neal gone in a deadline deal.
Bernal: The Utah Jazz will acquire Harrison Barnes. Even before the season-ending injury to Joe Ingles, the Jazz appeared intent on adding a defensive presence along the wing, to help fortify what has otherwise been a dynamic scoring group. Following Ingles’ ACL tear, extra help along the perimeter is no longer a luxury, but a necessity.
While Jerami Grant is almost certainly Danny Ainge’s top target, Barnes is probably a more realistic option if the recent reports over Detroit’s asking price are to be believed.
Mcewen: The Lakers will find a taker in the Westbrook sweepstakes and move the former All-Star.
