Is the Slam Dunk Contest back?

The Slam Dunk Contest has been one of the festivities during NBA All-Star weekend that has suffered the most over the last few decades. It has had its up and downs over the last decade but there are far more forgettable moments than memorable ones.

In fact, I had to look up to see who won the contest last season. It was Anfernee Simons, who is now becoming more of a household name with the Portland Trail Blazers. However, before looking it up, you could’ve given me 50 chances and I’m not sure if I would’ve guessed right.

But that’s kind of where the contest is. It needs some sort of shakeup and even then, I’m not sure it’s ever going to get back to headlining All-Star weekend.

Maybe one of this year’s participants will be able to change that?
