NBA Rumors: LA Clippers’ Paul George set to make his return this week?
NBA Rumors: Paul George is set to make his return to the LA Clippers’ lineup this week.
After missing a large portion of the season, it appears that Paul George is set to make his return to the LA Clippers lineup this week. He has been out with an injury since December 22 but has been upgraded to questionable ahead of the team’s game against the Utah Jazz Tuesday.
With the Clippers close to clinching the 8th seed in the Western Conference Play-In Tournament, it appears that the team is going to get a worthy shot in the arm.
LA has just seven games remaining in their regular-season slate but George is set to return in an attempt to help this team make a run in the postseason.
Just because George has been upgraded to questionable doesn’t mean he’s definitely going to play against the Jazz Tuesday night. However, it almost does ensure that he’s closing in on a return to action.
I’m not sure the Jazz would continue to upgrade his status if the intent was to shut him down for the remainder of the season.
Before his injury in December, George was playing fantastic basketball and had the Clippers as the 5th seed in the Western Conference standings. George will try and pick up where he left off in which he was averaging 25 points, seven rebounds, and six assists per game on 42 percent shooting from the field.
Depending on where they finish in the Play-In Tournament, there is a chance that the Clippers emerge as a difficult first-round matchup for either the Phoenix Suns or the Memphis Grizzlies – and particularly the latter.
Who wouldn’t want to see the inexperienced Grizzlies tested early on in the playoffs against a veteran-laden team like the Clippers? Especially if George is back healthy.
