NBA Trade Rumors: The Dallas Mavericks could be a potential landing spot for Rudy Gobert if he is shopped by the Utah Jazz.

Even if the Dallas Mavericks make a semi-deep playoff run, there’s no question that this roster needs some tweaking – and improving. Luka Doncic has been fantastic this season once again but it’s a shame that he hasn’t played next to a legit No. 2 option through the first few years of his career.

One player that the Mavs are reportedly keeping a close eye on heading into the offseason is Rudy Gobert. Depending on what happens with the Utah Jazz in the postseason, they could be in for some big changes this offseason.

If that ends up happening, the Mavs could emerge as a team that could be a beneficiary.

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, the Mavs could end up being a landing spot for Gobert. In the event that the Jazz are forced to shop him, the Mavs would make a lot of sense. Especially considering that the team needs to make a big improvement this offseason.

The Mavs desperately need to find a second option for Luka Doncic. Even though Gobert isn’t exactly the offensive second option that would be ideal, overall as a two-way big he makes so much sense for the Mavs.

He’d be an immediate impact player on the defensive end and would feed off the playmaking ability of Doncic on the offensive end.

If Gobert is a good fit next to Mitchell, he’d be an even better fit next to Doncic. And Doncic has never had a player as good as Gobert – on either end of the floor. After the Kristaps Porzingis experiment, you know the Mavs are desperately looking for a way to make a big splash this offseason.
