NBA Trade Rumors: Is CAA at the center of the Donovan Mitchell trade whispers?
After another first-round NBA Playoff exit, there’s a chance that we could see some big changes this offseason from the Utah Jazz. And nearly all eyes around the league will surround the potential availability of Donovan Mitchell.
Even though the Jazz trading Mitchell would send shockwaves across the league, it’s also not something that would be extremely shocking. There have been whispers for months that there is something odd going on in Utah and Mitchell has been at the center of all the speculation.
And according to a recent report, the Jazz believes that most of this “outside noise” is coming from CAA, the agency that represents Mitchell.
"[via Bleacher Report]Jazz staffers and various figures around the league point most directly at CAA for the whispers that seem designed to push Mitchell toward requesting a trade from Utah, particularly to New York.…The Miami Heat are being mentioned as another franchise that’s closely monitoring Mitchell’s status in Utah."
Adding to the report, it’s no surprise that the Heat are a team that is lurking in the shadows in the event that Mitchell does hit the open market.
This is a tough situation all around. Even more so for the Jazz. But it’s pretty clear that there needs to be a conversation to be had this offseason. And Utah needs to figure out whether Mitchell wants to be in the long-term future plans of the Jazz or not.
At this point, both parties need to be honest with themselves. And if it is indeed true that Mitchell wants out of Utah, then it’s something that the Jazz should absolutely explore.
All in all, this seems to be shaping up as an extremely important offseason for the Jazz.
