NBA Trade Rumors: The Atlanta Hawks have the means to land Rudy Gobert, but it’s going to take a huge blockbuster trade offer.

Recent reporting (and general common sense) suggests that it’s going to take a boatload of assets to land Rudy Gobert – or to pry him away from the Utah Jazz. Though, if they wanted to, a team such as the Atlanta Hawks have the means to make a deal work.

According to a recent report, the Hawks could throw a blockbuster offer to the Jazz in an attempt to land Gobert this offseason.

"[via Bleacher Report]“There has been plenty of talk among league personnel that some combination of Capela, John Collins, Kevin Huerter and the No. 16 pick could be routed to Utah for the three-time Defensive Player of the Year.”"

Of course, this would be under the assumption that the Hawks would be all-in on acquiring Gobert. He’s certainly the type of defensive upgrade that could change the team’s entire philosophy on that end of the floor, but the fallout from losing all that depth could be massive for Atlanta.

Essentially, the Hawks would have to hope that DeAndre Hunter would make a leap and that Danilo Gallinari could take a bigger offensive roster next season. Even if those two things happen, I’m not sure the rest of the roster would have this team as a contender in the East.

But, at the very least, it’s something that the Hawks should consider. Atlanta needs some sort of reshuffling of the supporting cast around Trae Young. That much is understood. It remains to be seen if Gobert is the type of player that the Hawks should be pursuing.

Nevertheless, this is just the start of the whispers and smoke that are only going to intensify as the offseason unravels. And with as many trade pieces as the Hawks possess, they will have the opportunity to be involved in many conversations.
