NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets are discussing a Russell Westbrook for Kyrie Irving swap.

Just a few weeks ago, the Los Angeles Lakers appeared dead in their tracks regarding the possibility of offloading Russell Westbrook at any point this offseason. However, according to a recent report, the Lakers are close to achieving that goal.

And not just achieve that goal, but also add a significant piece in the process. A piece that could completely change the outlook for the team heading into next season.

The Lakers and Brooklyn Nets are reportedly discussing a possible Russell Westbrook for Kyrie Irving swap. Something that just a few days ago seemed like a pipe dream. Of course, that was until Kevin Durant changed everything for the Nets.

Once Durant requested a trade from the team, the tone drastically shifted and trading Kyrie seemed like a logical next step. And now we’re here, where Kyrie could possibly be on the verge of getting his wish and reuniting with LeBron James in Los Angeles.

But there’s reportedly one holdup. The Lakers want Seth Curry but the Nets want them to take on Joe Harris. Once that gets resolved, it appears this deal seems like it’ll come to fruition.

If the Lakers pull this off, it would be the greatest change of fortunes in recent NBA history. The Lakers entered the offseason with not much hope and now will possibly be exiting it with an All-NBA talent in exchange for the player on their roster that fits the worst.

But, that’s the Lakers. Despite huge mistakes, Los Angeles always seems to come up gold. It seems like they’re about to make it happen again.
