1. The Minnesota Timberwolves acquire Rudy Gobert via trade

The biggest move of free agency thus far involves the Minnesota Timberwolves acquiring Rudy Gobert from the Utah Jazz. It’s a move that will be talked about for years to come, whether the end result is good or bad for the Wolves.

I love the thinking, especially for a franchise like Minnesota. It’s not every offseason that the Wolves are going to have the opportunity to take a big swing on a superstar – and that’s what they did with Gobert.

It cost them a boatload of draft picks, but the franchise decided to go all-in and trust Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Bennett. I’ll never fault a franchise for believing in what they’ve built. It may not work in the end, but at least the Wolves were willing to take a big risk.

I’m not sure if the Wolves will be considered a championship contender next season, but they’re going to be really good.
