NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, the Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving saga could drag into training camp.

It’s been almost a week since Kevin Durant flipped the league and free agency upside down with a trade demand. However, it doesn’t appear we’re any closer to a blockbuster trade between the Brooklyn Nets and one of Durant’s preferred destinations – or any other team for that matter.

And according to a recent report, a resolution between Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and the Nets may not come until training camp. Or, in other words, it could be a while until we see a KD deal.

"And this is a drama that could play out for a while — for weeks, months or even into the season.…And league personnel say the Nets have implied if they don’t get what they want, this could well drag on into training camp."

There haven’t been many substantial reports when it comes to Durant and possible landing spots, other than an original list of his preferred destinations. However, there’s been little in terms of actual talks or trade discussions.

And that has led many to believe that there probably isn’t a deal remotely close. Based on the recent report – or the lack of overall reporting regarding the original storyline – that seems pretty accurate.

Again, a lot can change in an instant when it comes to trade discussions. But let’s also not act as if the Nets are not operating from a place of some leverage. Durant does have four years on his deal left and Brooklyn is in no rush to move him.

Durant’s trade value is probably never going to decline, short of an injury. But there are still roughly two full months before the start of training camps and the season; there’s really no rush from the Nets’ standpoint. Especially if they’re prioritizing the best possible package.
