NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, there is no current traction in a Kyrie Irving to Los Angeles Lakers trade.

As the rest of the NBA awaits a blockbuster trade featuring Kevin Durant to take place, over the past few days (or week), the expectation had been that the Los Angeles Lakers will eventually be the landing spot for Kyrie Irving, whose trade value is reportedly at an all-time low.

However, according to a recent report, I’m not sure that’s a fair assessment to make.

Shams Charania said that there’s no current traction between the Nets and Lakers on a potential deal for Kyrie. In fact, Shams took it a step further and made it seem as if he would be surprised if Kyrie was ultimately traded to the Lakers. That is interesting, to say the least.

Especially considering how the Kyrie-to-the-Lakers news has been reported over the last few of days. A couple of days ago, it was reported that the Lakers and Nets were actively engaged in trade discussions.

Then, on Sunday, it was reported that the Lakers haven’t been particularly aggressive in their pursuit of Kyrie. Now, Shams completely slammed the breaks on those that expected Kyrie to the Lakers to be announced anytime soon.

Assuming that this report is accurate, which almost everything that comes out of Shams’ mouth is, I’d have to wonder if this means that there’s another team(s) out there that will likely provide a better offer than the Lakers, or if this is more of a hard-ball negotiating tactic from Brooklyn?

Either way, it’s another wrinkle that I’m not sure many expected to arise. Where will Kyrie play this season? I’m not sure if anyone truly knows right now.
