NBA Trade Rumors: The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly interested in Eric Gordon and Buddy Hield.
Over the past week, there has been plenty of smoke regarding a potential Kyrie Irving to the Los Angeles Lakers trade. However, that noise has settled down quite a bit thanks to some credible reporting.
That said, with the lack of a trade market that there currently is for Kyrie, I’m not sure that’s completely off the table. However, according to a recent report, Kyrie is not the only possible route to improvement this offseason for the Lakers.
Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers have expressed interest in both Eric Gordon and Buddy Hield.
Both Gordon and Hield are two solid trade candidates. Gordon is on an expiring contract for the Houston Rockets and Hield has two years left on his current deal with the Indiana Pacers – he was sent to Indiana as part of the Tyrese Haliburton package at the NBA Trade Deadline.
Gordon or Hield, or both, would be solid additions for a Lakers team that drastically missed a reliable scoring threat outside of the big three. Plus, he’d be an ideal fit next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis – assuming the team would want to move Rusell Westbrook in either move.
It remains to be seen if the Lakers have the necessary assets to land either Gordon or Hield, but at this point making a smaller move would seem more feasible than perhaps making a run at Kyrie. Especially considering everything remains at a standstill as the Kevin Durant saga lingers.
The Lakers need to make some improvements, there’s no doubt about that. They have to make some move. Which move they end up making is still in question.
Though, it would be highly surprising if the Lakers entered training camp with the status quo.
