NBA Trade Rumors: Kyrie Irving talks have reportedly stalled
NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, trade talks centered around Kyrie Irving have stalled.
The Brooklyn Nets currently have their hands full with trying to find trades for both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving after their respective trade demands. But at least for now, it seems as if the Nets are looking to focus their efforts on trading one of their stars. Not both.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, trade talks centered around Kyrie have stalled for the time being. Though, this report should not be as surprising as it may seem on the surface, especially considering that the entire league has been placed on pause with the Kevin Durant trade request.
It would make much more sense for the Nets to complete a trade for Durant and then shift their focus to Kyrie. After all, without a true market, what else could the Nets do?
And, perhaps, maybe a market for Kyrie will develop once Durant is off the block.
Considering the Nets are in no rush to move either Durant or Kyrie, I still believe the expectation is that this is going to linger into the summer. Worst-case scenario, this is an issue that the Nets will carry into training camp.
At least for now, the expectation is that Durant and Kyrie will not be on the Nets roster once the season begins. At this point, it’s hard to imagine where they’ll be but it won’t be in Brooklyn.
Even though it’s been roughly two weeks since the start of free agency, there’s still plenty that remains unsettled. However, I think it’s safe to assume that Durant will be traded first.
Aside from the drama that is taking place in Brooklyn, the next few weeks in the NBA could be rocky. There could be a flurry of trades to take place, and it could all be set off by one Durant blockbuster move.
