Eric Gordon to the Phoenix Suns

For the sake of this argument, we’ll operate as if the Phoenix Suns don’t land Kevin Durant. In that case, they will need to look to make some upgrades to help salvage the offseason – especially with the likelihood that the team will lose Deandre Ayton.

One upgrade that makes sense on paper is adding a scorer such as Eric Gordon. He’ll help give the team some insurance in the backcourt to Chris Paul and could be a dynamic scorer off the bench. Even while taking a lesser role this past season for the Houston Rockets, Gordon still averaged 13 points on 47 percent shooting from the field and 41 percent shooting from 3-point range.

Gordon wouldn’t move the needle as a Durant acquisition would, but the Suns can’t leave the offseason by losing Ayton (perhaps for nothing or little) and then missing out on Durant. Gordon would help what could end up being a disastrous offseason for the Suns.
