What’s the timeline for a Kevin Durant trade?

Assuming that the Brooklyn Nets are serious about trading Kevin Durant, it’s pretty difficult to pinpoint an exact timeline on when a deal will go down. After all, NBA training camps don’t open until late September. That said, I’d be extremely surprised if we entered the dog days of August and Durant was still on the Nets.

I predict that the Nets will trade Durant in the next two weeks. By the beginning of August, Durant will be on a new team. And it will probably take place after a Donovan Mitchell deal. I think Brooklyn will wait out what happens between Mitchell and the Jazz and try to use it to their advantage.

The Nets will try to get the most value out of Durant, which they should absolutely be doing, but will eventually hit a wall and come to the quick realization that they need to make a trade. And, at that point, they will.
