So, let’s go through the list of teams that makes sense, one way or another for Kevin Durant. The Suns are probably out. The Miami Heat are still in it. The Golden State Warriors, well that would shock me.
The Memphis Grizzlies would make for great theater, but it’s Memphis. The Toronto Raptors are absolutely in it as well, even more so if the price for Durant begins to drop. And that may happen now that Phoenix is out.
Ultimately, I don’t believe that this is a situation the Heat can let slip out of their fingers. They’re all-in on their pursuit of Durant and I believe they’re going to do their best to make it happen. Short of the Raptors including Barnes in their offer, I’m not sure it would make sense to go against what Durant wants. Not for OG Anunoby and Gary Trent Jr., with all respect to them as players.

At least for now, with the information that is known, I believe that the Heat are currently in the best position to acquire Durant. It could all change in an instant, but at least for now, I would list Miami as the favorite to land Durant.
