NBA Trades: Nets to carry Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving into training camp?
NBA Trades: According to recent reporting, it seems like the Brooklyn Nets will carry Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving on the roster into training camp.
Whether you want to admit it or not, the Brooklyn Nets are operating from a place of power when it comes to the Kevin Durant trade request. Durant still has multiple years remaining on his contract and there’s really not much else Durant can do other than requesting a trade, which he already has done.
And according to a recent report, the Nets are flexing their muscles a bit. They’ve leaked that they’re entirely willing to wait out a Durant trade. In fact, Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer (who has been money on nearly every piece of reporting this offseason) believes that’s exactly what will happen – that both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant will be on Brooklyn’s roster when training camp opens.
And it’s not just Fischer echoing this possibility. It was reported last week that the Nets have not been thrilled with the offers that they’ve gotten for Durant. Brooklyn is expecting to get offers from teams that reflect the best player in the league on the trade block.
At least thus far, that hasn’t been the case. For now, the Nets are interested in forcing the issues and will now play a game of chicken with Durant. Perhaps the recent report that suggested Kyrie was prepared to play for the Nets this season changed their stance?
Maybe the Nets are hoping if they keep both on the roster, both will play this season? Either way, the next few weeks should be interesting. And if both Durant and Kyrie are indeed on the roster when training camp starts, that should be an interesting media day for Brooklyn.
