4. Carmelo Anthony, unrestricted
Coming off an under-the-radar season with the Los Angeles Lakers, even though there isn’t much interest in Carmelo Anthony, he could still add value to a contender looking for some depth on the wing. At this stage of his career, he isn’t a full-time starter but can be a sparkplug off the bench or even a spot-starter at times.
Melo is coming off pretty consistent back-to-back seasons coming off the bench for both the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers – he averaged 13 points and four rebounds on 44 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from 3-point range last season.
Even at 38 years old, he probably still has at least one more productive season left in him. Especially if it comes with a contender. And considering the could probably be had for the veteran minimum, there’s still at least some value in signing Melo.
