2. Dennis Schroder, unrestricted
A few offseasons ago, Dennis Schroder declined a near $85 million contract extension from the Los Angeles Lakers because he believed he could get a max offer from some team on the open market. That never happened and he’s been bouncing around the league ever since – with his lastest team being the Houston Rockets.
As he remains unsigned this offseason, it appears that Schroder will once again have to prove his worth if he wants to cash in again for another multi-year deal. And there could be real value for any team that targets Schroder.
During the first 49 games last season with the Boston Celtics, Schroder averaged 15 points, six assists, and three rebounds on 44 percent shooting from the field and 35 percent shooting from 3-point range. He simply wasn’t the right fit for the Celtics.
In the right system, there’s no question that Schroder could still tap into that potential many believed he had just a few seasons ago.
