NBA Trade Rumors: Kevin Durant’s trade value is too high for a deal to come to fruition.

It’s been roughly three weeks since Kevin Durant demanded a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. Though, there hasn’t been much, if any, traction on a potential deal. And since the Phoenix Suns essentially fell out of the bidding war, after they matched the Deandre Ayton offer sheet, it’s been slim pickings for the Nets.

And according to a recent report, one of the biggest reasons why is the fact that his trade value is too high that there aren’t any teams willing to make an offer that the Nets would be willing to accept.

Because the Nets’ asking price is too high, there isn’t a market for him at the moment. The Miami Heat doesn’t have the assets that appease the Nets and the other teams that would be interested aren’t making the offers that would appease the Nets either.

This is probably the biggest reason why it has been reported that the expectation is that Durant will be on the Nets roster when training camp opens. But something has to give. Either the Nets’ asking price for Durant is going to fall or there’s going to be one team that elects to go all-in on Durant.

Although, that could all take time. And it doesn’t seem as if the Nets are in any rush to trade Durant. After all, he’s still under contract for the foreseeable future and it would be him that would be wasting away his prime if he elects to sit out.

The Nets appear willing to roll the dice on playing this game of chicken with Durant. It’ll be interesting to see how it begins to play out over the next few weeks.

At least for now, it doesn’t appear that Durant is going anywhere.
