NBA Trade Rumors: New York Knicks and Utah Jazz remain far apart on a deal for Donovan Mitchell.

Up until now, there’s no question that the New York Knicks are the favorites to land Donovan Mitchell via trade from the Utah Jazz. Among the interested teams, the Knicks have the most trade assets to offer and appear motivated to make a deal.

However, at least up until now, the Jazz and Knicks reportedly remain far apart from an official agreement. According to that same report, there are a few other teams also in pursuit of Mitchell – including the Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards, and the Charlotte Hornets.

The Jazz reportedly has a high asking price for Mitchell and, at least until now, the Knicks have not met that price. Or perhaps Utah is waiting it out to see what else they could get in the package.

Either way, it seems like Utah isn’t terribly rushing to finalize a Mitchell trade. They have no reason to be. Mitchell still has three years remaining on his current deal and training camp doesn’t even open for another month.

I think the belief that Mitchell will eventually be traded, but it doesn’t seem like right now is that time. Still, despite this recent reporting, it would be extremely surprising if the Knicks didn’t elect to go all-in and meet Utah’s demands.

But, even after signing Jalen Brunson during the offseason, you understand New York not initially throwing all their assets on the table.

As the Donovan Mitchell saga continues, it’ll be interesting to see if there are any other teams that make a jump in the sweepstakes. As for now, I’m not sure there are any other teams that should worry New York’s chances.
