Notable moves: Drafted Malaki Branham, traded Dejounte Murray to the Hawks

One thing has become clear this offseason, and that’s the San Antonio Spurs are currently all-in on a rebuild. They traded Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks for three first-round picks and Danilo Gallinari (who they waived shortly after).

Trading Murray was somewhat surprising but it’s clear that they came to the consensus that while good, Murray is probably not the player that’s going to lead the Spurs into the next era of basketball in San Antonio.

That said, the Spurs are equipped with a surplus of draft assets and will now be able to jumpstart their rebuild in the next couple of seasons. Another positive is that it appears Gregg Popovich is going to remain part of the rebuild for the time being.
