NBA Rumors: Holding out of training camp could be the next move for Kevin Durant.

Kevin Durant wants out of Brooklyn and it seems he’s starting to come around to the idea of doing whatever it takes to make it happen. Durant has informed Nets owner Joe Tsai that it’s either him or general manager Sean Marks and head coach Steve Nash. It’s clear what side the owner plans on choosing.

And probably knowing this, Durant basically reminded Tsai that he expects a trade to come down. He wants to expedite that process. Ultimately, that’s what I believe the meeting was more about.

After all, what owner would fire his front office in favor of one player? That’s bad business and sets a terrible precedent moving forward.

Nevertheless, at least up until now, the Nets haven’t found a trade offer that is to their liking. And that’s one of the biggest reasons why Durant is still a Net. The problem is, the offers are unlikely to get bigger. In fact, now that this information is out, it wouldn’t be surprising if they got lower.

With training camp around the corner, the Nets don’t have a whole lot of leverage. Especially if they want to avoid having Durant on the team’s training camp roster.

And according to a recent report, if it does get to that point, there’s not even a guarantee that Durant would report to camp. In fact, holding out of training camp could be Durant’s next logistical move.

But a lot can happen between now and the start of training camp for the Nets. It seems unlikely that there could be any type of reconciliation for Durant and the Nets, but perhaps they make strides in their trade talks with other teams.

After all, it just takes one team to go all-in for Durant to get traded. While they may not have one yet, perhaps that changes the close we get to the start of the next season.

But maybe it doesn’t. And if it doesn’t, it will be interesting to see what the next moves could be for both the Nets and Durant. As crazy as it sounds, this saga could just be getting started and perhaps we may see this get even uglier before there’s any sort of resolution.
