NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, the Detroit Pistons could emerge as a suitor for Draymond Green next summer.

Heading into the 2022-23 NBA season, the Detroit Pistons will likely be considered one of the most exciting young teams in the Eastern Conference. Led by Cade Cunningham, Saddiq Bey, and rookie Jaden Ivey, it’s easy to see why many circles the Pistons as a team with a very bright future.

And while they will likely make some strides this season, the 2023-24 NBA season is really the year where we could see tangible improvement from the Pistons.

One way they could do so, or one way they could expedite that process, is by adding a veteran talent either this year (via trade) or next summer during free agency. And according to a recent report, one player that they could target is Draymond Green.

Draymond grew up in the area and, according to this report, has wanted to play for the Pistons for some time. With the possibility that he could leave the Golden State Warriors on the rise with the recent reporting regarding his desire for a max contract extension, perhaps he’s a player that would make sense for Detroit?

The Pistons could theoretically create the cap space to pay Draymond the money he is seeking and he could be a valuable asset for such a young, rising team. Even though Draymond is toward the end of the prime of his career (if he’s not there yet) and it was easy to see his abilities diminish this season.

But while he may not be in his prime on the floor, what he leaves to be desired as an all-star caliber player he makes up for as a leader in the locker room. His leadership style may not be one that resonates with everyone, you can’t question his resume – which includes four NBA Championships with the Warriors.

If nothing else, Draymond is a player to watch over the course of the next few weeks. Especially if he doesn’t get his extension this offseason.
