NBA Trade Rumors: The Brooklyn Nets are apparently telling teams that they don’t plan on trading Kyrie Irving.
For the majority of the NBA offseason, the Brooklyn Nets have been at the center of transaction talk. Kevin Durant requested a trade and because of that, many also believed that Kyrie Irving would soon be on his way out too.
It also didn’t help matters that Kyrie and the Nets weren’t able to agree to a contract extension. Instead, Kyrie opted into the final year of his contract and will be a free agent next summer. And the recent reporting involving Kyrie doesn’t seem to believe that he’s going to jump at the opportunity to re-sign in Brooklyn.
Even less if Durant isn’t around.
All throughout the summer, there have been rumors on both the Durant and Kyrie fronts. Though, nothing truly materialized in either matter. With training camp in the not-so-distant future, there is reason to believe that perhaps the Nets may be willing to enter camp with this current roster – with Durant and Kyrie on the roster.
The Brooklyn Nets are planning on running it back
And recent reporting seems to suggest that.
According to a recent report, the Nets are telling teams interested in Kyrie that they don’t plan on trading him.
Maybe I’m alone on this train of thought, but if the Nets aren’t moving Kyrie I don’t really envision the team trading Durant. Why would Brooklyn want to go through the season with Kyrie (and his antics) if it isn’t with Durant?
Perhaps I’m wrong and the Nets do in fact trade Durant. I simply don’t see it in that manner. I feel like the two are a package deal – if Durant is traded, Kyrie is traded; if Durant isn’t traded, Kyrie won’t be.
Under that math, it’s becoming pretty clear – the Nets aren’t likely to trade Durant or Kyrie between now and the start of the season. Maybe a Durant holdout changes things, but from all indications, Brooklyn intends on calling Durant’s bluff. It should make for an interesting start to training camp.
All eyes continue to be on Brooklyn. And with a month away from the start of training camp, the intrigue will only continue to rise.
