NBA Rumors: As you would expect, the Brooklyn Nets are trying to push Kevin Durant to move off his trade demand. Good luck.
It’s really unfortunate that the Brooklyn Nets are in their current situation. On one hand, you could say that everyone reaps what they sow. And this offseason, it’s come to that for the Nets when it comes to Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
The Nets have clearly given almost all the power of the organization over to Durant and Kyrie and it has completely blown up in their faces. Durant is still sitting on a trade request and it all but appears Kyrie is going to leave in free agency after this season.
Nevertheless, as you would expect, Brooklyn is trying to save it all before it comes tumbling down. According to a recent report, the Nets are trying to figure out if there’s a way to push Durant off his trade demand.
"[via ESPN]“The other negotiation that is now developing is between Durant and the Nets. That separate negotiation about what it would like for him to come back."
This is what the Nets should be doing. Though, they shouldn’t have much expectation. Durant has made it clear that he doesn’t want to continue to play for the Nets if it means he has to do so under the tutelage of general manager Sean Marks and head coach Steve Nash.
At the same rate, Nets owner Joe Tsai has also made it clear that he doesn’t plan on firing Marks and/or Nash in order to keep Durant happy.
The big question is if Tsai and Durant could possibly meet in the middle. After all, why else would Windy (*insert his, now, viral meme*) call it a negotiation? Hmmm.
It’s something to keep an eye on over the next couple of weeks. Especially if the offers for Durant continue to underwhelm the Nets, which they reportedly have been.
Despite all this, I still can’t envision Durant being a member of the Nets when training camp opens. But time is beginning to run out on the Nets. Something will eventually have to give.
