NBA Rumors: The San Antonio Spurs, Utah Jazz, and Indiana Pacers seem to be plausible landing spots for Russell Westbrook.

The expectation revolving around the Los Angeles Lakers is that there’s still another shoe yet to drop. They acquired Patrick Beverley earlier this week but it’s not the move that many were waiting for the Lakers to make.

Russell Westbrook is a player that many are waiting for the Lakers to trade. But it simply hasn’t happened yet. And if it does, it will be an intricate one. Nevertheless, if the Lakers do trade Russ, some plausible teams make sense as potential trade partners.

Potential landing spots for Russell Westbrook

According to a recent report, the San Antonio Spurs, Utah Jazz, and Indiana Pacers seem to be “obvious” possible suitors for Russ. Of course, that doesn’t mean they would jump at the opportunity to help the Lakers. But they would make sense from a financial point of view.

Each of those teams either has the cap space to absorb Russ or they could easily get there in a potential deal.

Any deal for Russ is likely going to cost the Lakers a draft pick or two, but the expectation is that if we do see a deal – whether that’s before or during the season – it will involve one of these three teams.

The Lakers were linked to both the Jazz and Pacers earlier this offseason, but the Kyrie Irving angle kind of changed everything around the league. Now that the Kyrie angle is kind of over, it’ll be interesting to see if the Lakers try to revamp talks with their other options in their pursuit of off-loading Westbrook.
