LeBron James wants to retire in Los Angeles
Entering the offseason, one of the bigger questions revolved around what LeBron James would do. Would he sign an extension with the Los Angeles Lakers or play out his current contract and hit the open market next summer? At least for now, it seems as if LeBron wants to play out his career in Los Angeles.
LeBron answered that question by signing an extension with the Lakers. Even though it’s essentially a one-year extension, he will be under contract through the 2024 season in Los Angeles. He wants to play with his son and at this point, it would be surprising if that didn’t happen with the Lakers.
If Los Angeles is truly invested in LeBron, they will do whatever it takes to allow him to retire a Lakers. It would be a great story to have LeBron play with his son and then retire in Los Angeles. It would only add to the Lakers’ mystique.
