30 in 30: Can Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks overcome a ‘bad’ offseason?
Who could replace Jalen Brunson’s production?
While it wouldn’t be surprising for the Dallas Mavericks to try and make a move to help replace Jalen Brunson’s production, it remains to be seen if they will pull the trigger on a deal. If there isn’t help from the outside that will help the Mavs, they will have to hope for some internal development.
Who is on the short list of players that will be relied on in Brunson’s absence? Well, two players will be prime candidates – Tim Hardaway Jr. and Spencer Dinwiddie.
Hardaway Jr. missed the majority of last season due to injury but will be back this season. If he can return to form, his potential production will certainly help the Mavs. Dinwiddie is another player that was huge for the Mavs down the stretch last season.
After he was acquired by Dallas, Dinwiddie averaged 16 points per game. And he came up big at several moments for the Mavs in the playoffs. If he can play at that same level throughout this upcoming season, there’s no question he should help cushion the Mavs in the absence of Brunson.
That said, neither of these players are guarantees. Both have a history of struggling with consistency.
