The MVP competition for Luka Doncic
Heading into the season, the expectation is that there will be some stiff competition for the NBA MVP award. Nikola Jokic is the back-to-back MVP winner and will likely continue to be in the hunt heading into this season. The Denver Nuggets are slated to be back to contender status and as long as Jokic is playing at a high level, he should finish in the top 4 of voting.
Joel Embiid was close last season and if he’s relatively healthy this season he should have a great shot of winning the award. Giannis Antetokounmpo is Giannis Antetokounmpo, and he may be the best player in the league right now. He will also be in the race if he remains healthy.
After those three, there are dark horses such as Stephen Curry, Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum, and Ja Morant – these are all players that can make a convincing case to win the NBA MVP award but I’d give the nod to Luka over them.
Let’s take a closer look at why I believe Luka has a great chance of pulling it off.
