NBA pre-season bold predictions: The Los Angeles Lakers will be a contender
The rest of the West is not overwhelming
Let’s put the rest of the Western Conference into perspective here; they’re not as overwhelming as it may seem. At the top, the Golden State Warriors are deep but after Stephen Curry, there are certainly questions regarding the team’s top-level talent – it nearly cost them a championship last season.
The Phoenix Suns will likely be good again but we have already seen how flawed this team can be. After that, there are a bunch of dark horses such as the Memphis Grizzlies, Denver Nuggets, and LA Clippers – but each of those teams also has questions.
It’s not too far-fetched that a team led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis could compete with these other teams in the Western Conference.

Even though it may be difficult to pull off, there is an avenue for the Los Angeles Lakers to return to contention this season. It remains to be seen if they can pull it off. I believe so and I predict it will happen.
