The Washington Wizards should be on this list. No matter what you think of Bradley Beal, it’s clear that he can’t carry the Wizards alone. And there has been little-to-no proof over the last couple of seasons that this front office can surround Beal with the necessary help he needs. Because of that, the Wizards should seriously consider tanking for Victor Wembanyama.
Victor is the type of player that can change the fortune of a franchise and that may be exactly what the Wizards need – a breath of fresh air. Listen, I understand it wouldn’t make much sense and that this is probably something the Wizards should’ve decided in the summer.
But Beal has his money and can now choose his destination, with Washington getting maximum return for him via trade.
The Wizards may end up being competitive this season but they’re only fooling themselves if they believe this is a blueprint that will ultimately lead them to a championship.
