Trade idea No. 2: Heat add rim protection

In this trade idea, the Miami Heat seeks a player that they’ve already been linked to in the past. Mo Bamba. He’s kind of the perfect player that you want to pair next to Bam Adebayo (assuming you believe that he’s a power forward). Bamba is a player that could also help the HEat when it comes to rim protection.

Interestingly, Bamba isn’t playing a big role for the Magic this season. So it wouldn’t be shocking if the Magic shopped him as we get closer to the NBA Trade Deadline. And if they do, the Heat should absolutely be one of the teams that calls them. The difficulty for the Heat is whether or not they have enough to entice Orlando to pull the trigger.

At least on paper, Bamba makes sense as a pairing with Bam. Whether or not it will actually come to fruition remains to be seen. But if Miami truly believes it needs a difference-making big defensively, it’s hard to find a better – and more realistic – option than Bamba.
