Ben Simmons’ rough offensive start

It would’ve been ideal for Ben Simmons to begin the season under the radar with not many eyeballs on him. However, all of that went out the door as soon as the Brooklyn Nets got off to a rough start to the season.

Not only has Brooklyn’s slow start gotten its fair share of scrutiny, but so has Ben Simmons’ rough offensive start.

Simmons is averaging just six points on 41 percent shooting from the field and 47 percent shooting from the free-throw line. I’m not saying that Simmons has to be an all-star level player on the offensive end but he has to be better than he currently is if he’s A) going to change the narrative on his career and B) if he’s going to help the Nets get on the right track.

The Nets are in disarray right now. But, for the most part, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have been good. They’ve been as expected. It’s the team’s supporting cast that has failed to step up for the Nets so far this season. And the first part of that blame falls on the shoulders of Simmons. That comes with the big-name territory.
