What Kyrie Irving must do before he returns to action for the Brooklyn Nets.
In what was likely an attempt to help the rest of the team focus more on basketball, the Brooklyn Nets have reportedly outlined somewhat of a “to-do list” for Kyrie Irving before the thought of him playing again even becomes a reality.
According to a report from The Athletic, there is an extensive list of six items that Kyrie will have to do before he can return to playing basketball for the Nets.
While this may put some speculation regarding Kyrie and the Nets to bed, with how uncertain Kyrie’s character is, I’m not so sure it’s a foregone conclusion that he’s going to meet all the requirements.
Even if he does meet the first five, Nets owner Joe Tsai still has the final say in a meeting with Kyrie. If he doesn’t feel as if Kyrie took these steps seriously or that he still could put the franchise in danger of something else like this happening again, he could simply send Kyrie home and suspend him for the remainder of the season.
It’s interesting, to say the least, and it’s become quite clear that Kyrie has his work cut out for him over the next few weeks.
It could be a while before we see Kyrie Irving in a Brooklyn Nets uniform again
All in all, it could be a while before we see Kyrie playing basketball again for the Nets. And that’s not something that should come off as a surprise. In fact, there were questions as to whether we’d ever see Kyrie in a Brooklyn uniform again.
It seems like those whispers have been put to bed for now.
I don’t think it’s a good look for either side that this “to-do list” was revealed but it at least sheds some clarity on a situation that needed it. Things are far from settled for Kyrie and the Nets but there’s at least some timeline here.
Essentially, the Nets have suspended Kyrie until he gets through all of these things. And it could be a while. And, still, there’s no guarantee that Brooklyn will give him the OK to return to action even after all these things have been completed.
