NBA Rumors: Kevin Durant and other members of the Brooklyn Nets may be growing frustrated with Ben Simmons.

The Brooklyn Nets are a mess right now. There’s at least an outside chance that Kyrie Irving has played his final game with the franchise and the team, who had some championship aspirations before the year, has gotten off to a 3-6 start to the season.

Now, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Kevin Durant and other members of the Brooklyn Nets may be growing frustrated with the slow start of Ben Simmons.

Through the first nine games of the season (in which he has only played in six), Simmons has averaged six points, seven assists, and seven rebounds per game on 44 percent shooting from the field.

The Brooklyn Nets may not have been the ideal landing spot for Ben Simmons

Objectively, it’s easy to see why the Nets may not have been the best or most ideal landing spot for Simmons. Considering everything that he’s coming out of during his time in Philadelphia, and what the Nets are currently facing, it’s quickly becoming apparent that Simmons may not be in a great spot right now.

There are a few things that Simmons was going to need when he left the Sixers. He was going to need time to not only get his confidence back but to also shake off the rust after not playing for more than a year. He was also going to need patience as he attempted to gel with a new team.

Because of what the Nets are playing for, he hasn’t been awarded any of that. Predictably, Simmons has gotten off to a slow start and now there are these whispers.

Brooklyn’s rough start to the season doesn’t help things at all. But it’s hard to place much blame on Simmons considering he’s still trying to find his footing with the Nets.

Either way, this is not a good development. It’s another concerning trend that needs to be dealt with inside that locker room. Quite frankly, this isn’t all that surprising. The Nets have been a mess all season long. But something needs to change. Simmons was always going to be a work in progress. It’s actually quite amazing that wasn’t expected, assuming this report is accurate.
