NBA Trade Rumors: LA Lakers hesitant to make this blockbuster move?
NBA Trade Rumors: Are the Los Angeles Lakers not sold on making the blockbuster move that they have been linked to all offseason?
Through the first few weeks of the NBA season, the Los Angeles Lakers have the second-worst record in the league. They only have two wins on the season and don’t look like a team that is having fun when they’re on the basketball court.
LeBron James has gotten off to one of the shakiest starts of his career and there are still questions surrounding Anthony Davis’ ability to remain healthy. Russell Westbrook is still an odd fit even though he’s been much better for the Lakers off the bench.
All in all, the Lakers are not in a great situation and there’s a sense that this team is going to have to make a trade in order to somewhat salvage this season. Of course, the problem is, there are some in the front office that isn’t sold on the blockbuster move that the Lakers have been linked to all offseason.
Over the past few weeks, the expectation around the league is that the Lakers are eventually going to circle back to a trade that nearly happened during the offseason – one that had Westbrook and two future first-round picks going to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Buddy Hield and Myles Turner.
Though, according to this recent report, it seems that there are some in the Lakers’ front office that isn’t entirely on board with making such a move.
Should the Los Angeles Lakers make a big move?
At this point in the season, it’s not too late in essence to make a move that could potentially save the season. However, considering where the Lakers are, there are questions to be asked. The Lakers are 2-9 and are 4.5 games back of the sixth seed in the Western Conference. Through just 11 games, that’s not ideal.
So it’s not outrageous for the front office to have questions about whether or not acquiring Hield and Turner would actually make enough of a difference for the Lakers to not only climb their way back up the West standings but also round into contender status by the end of the season.
That won’t be an easy task for a team that is just coming together at some point during the season and could be increasingly difficult for first-year coach Darvin Ham.
The Lakers have some big decisions to make over the course of the next few weeks and one of them surrounds the potential of making a big trade that could potentially save their season. At least for now, there is some hesitance that is building in the front office. Are they warranted with that feeling?
