NBA Trade Rumors: Teams are beginning to ask the New York Knicks about Immanuel Quickley’s availability.

As the New York Knicks tries to find its footing through the first few weeks of the season, the trade whispers are already beginning. Specifically, there’s one player on the Knicks that at least a few teams could be targeting.

According to a recent report, teams have talked to the Knicks about the possibility of acquiring Immanuel Quickley.

Through the first few games of the season, Quickley is averaging eight points, five rebounds, and three assists per game on 35 percent shooting from the field. Though, at 23 years old, the overwhelming opinion is that he has the potential to have a bright future in this league.

The thought process, per the report, is that New York doesn’t have enough minutes to go around and may need to trade one of its young guards. Quickley is a player that is coveted by other teams in the league.

The New York Knicks may need to move a young player but perhaps not Immanuel Quickley

You can make the argument that perhaps it would be in the best interest of the Knicks to trade one of their young players who is probably not getting them the minutes that they deserve, but it’s hard to see that Quickley would be that trade candidate that teams are hoping he is.

Quickley is an intriguing young player in just his third season. He’s still developing and has a ways to go but has shown some promise. And it’s understandable why teams are hoping the Knicks are willing to move on from Quickley at the moment. He’s gotten off to a rough start to the season and teams are looking to buy low.

However, I’d have to imagine that the Knicks will be giving Quickley the benefit of the doubt with this rough start.

But, for one reason or another, if the Knicks did come to a position where they’d be willing to move Quickly, it would likely cost a veteran rotation player or a future first-round pick. With that price tag, the Knicks can’t go wrong. At the very least, he’s a player to keep an eye on over the next few weeks. Especially if the Knicks continue to float their way through the season.
