NBA Trade Rumors: After a shaky start to the season, the Brooklyn Nets may be looking to move Joe Harris.

The Brooklyn Nets are still trying to find an identity this season as they’ve gotten off to a 6-8 start to the year. The hope was that the team was beginning to play much better basketball but then fell victim to a hobbled Los Angeles Lakers team Sunday night.

You can’t win them all but the Nets haven’t won much this season. And that could potentially lead to some changes between now and the trade deadline. It would be surprising if Brooklyn didn’t at least attempt to reshuffle their roster, if not upgrade it before the trade deadline.

And according to one recent report, one primary candidate to be moved is Joe Harris. The 31-year-old has been a member of the Nets for the past six seasons but perhaps his time in Brooklyn may be coming to an end. Or perhaps this may end up being nothing that trade deadline season smoke.

Honestly, we shouldn’t be surprised either way.

Is this the beginning of a firesale for the Brooklyn Nets?

It should be somewhat surprising that the Nets would be open to trading Harris. Though, I still don’t believe this is going to be the start of a firesale in Brooklyn. You can make an argument that Harris is one player on the roster that the team could trade in an attempt to reshuffle some of their rotation.

Harris has historically been a good player for the Nets. Even though he’s gotten off to a difficult start to the year, the expectation is that he should find his footing if given enough opportunities. Harris is averaging eight points and four rebounds on 35 percent shooting from 3-point range.

Harris hasn’t been the sharpshooting forward that the Nets have become accustomed to and that could be at the forefront of the team’s frustration with him. It would make sense to scour the trade market and see what they could get for him.

He isn’t on a bad contract and is an expiring deal after next season. The Nets could be just sniffing around to see if there’s a deal to shake up their roster but at the same time, I don’t think we should be surprised if Harris was traded at the deadline.
