NBA Trade Rumors: 3 rumored possible landing spots for Draymond Green
NBA Trade Rumors: Exploring three rumored possible landing spots for Draymond Green.
The Golden State Warriors have not raced off to the start that many imagined that they would. Instead, they have been pretty underwhelming so far this season. The Warriors are 7-9 and currently outside the top 10 in the conference.
It’s still early and the expectation is that they will turn things around but it hasn’t been a great start for the defending champs. So much so that it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that the Warriors could elect to make a big move ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline. One name that the Warriors could seemingly move relatively easily is Draymond Green.
He’s an expiring contract after this season and there’s a growing chance that he could end up moving on once the year is over – especially if the Warriors aren’t willing to give him the max extension that he’s seeking.
If the Warriors get to a point where they’re open to trading Draymond, there could be some interesting suitors.
According to a recent report, executives from around the league have given landing spots that would make sense for Draymond – both from a logistical standpoint and from a basketball one. Three teams that have been linked to him are the LA Clippers, Golden State Warriors, and Boston Celtics.
Which of these teams would make the most sense?
Of the three teams that have been linked to Draymond in this report, I think I would be most intrigued by the LA Clippers possibility. There’s no question that he would help the Celtics get over the top. If without him they managed to get to within two wins of a championship, surely they’d be able to win one with him.
The Suns would also be benefited greatly from the addition of Draymond next to Deandre Ayton. He would help defensively in the frontcourt and give the Suns a certain swagger and confidence that they clearly lack at times.
The Clippers are probably the team that needs him the most. Even with a healthy Kawhi Leonard and Paul Goerge, this is a team that was missing a piece. I’m not sure if Draymond is that piece but he’d certainly add some intrigue to an already talented team. He’d fit definitively and would give the Clippers another distributor on the offensive end. Draymond is one of the better frontcourt playmakers and he doesn’t get nearly enough credit as he should.
It would be somewhat surprising to see Draymond leave, but I believe we’re getting closer and closer to the point where it’s somewhat of an expectation and not just a possibility.
