NBA Trade Rumors: Breaking down the New York Knicks’ rumored asking price for Immanuel Quickley.

The New York Knicks have some figuring out to do over the next few weeks. They have been pretty inconsistent and they have to decide whether a possible move at the NBA Trade Deadline is something that could help solve some of their issues.

They have been linked to being open to trading Derrick Rose and Immanuel Quickley in an attempt to settle into a more defined rotation. The big question is, what would the Knicks be asking for in return?

According to a recent report, the Knicks are asking teams for a future first-round pick in exchange for Quickley. While it’s not too outlandish of an ask, it is quite interesting. And suggests that perhaps the Knicks aren’t willing to simply trade Quickley just for the sake of trading him.

Quickley was a late first-round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and he hasn’t disappointed, so it makes sense that the Knicks would be looking for equal value. At the same time, I’m not sure many teams are going to be lining up to offer the Knicks a future first-round pick for Quickley.

He’s still very much a work in progress and will need to be paid after next season (or he will enter restricted free agency).

Is it too much of an ask for the New York Knicks?

I don’t think it’s too much of an ask for the Knicks. The big question is whether it’s an unrealistic ask for the Knicks. And I think it is.

For one, while Quickley has shown some promise, I don’t think he’s a player that you willingly throw the first-round pick away from. Mind you, during his third season, Quickley has taken somewhat of a step back in terms of offensive efficiency.

Quickley is averaging nine points, five rebounds, and three assists on 38 percent shooting from the field and 31 percent shooting from 3-point range. He’s still just 23 years old and continues to grow as a player, but would a team want to move a future first-round pick instead of simply using the pick to add a player similar to Quickely?

It’s an honest question that any team somewhat interested in Quickley will have to answer. Will the Knicks get what they’re asking for? Are the Knicks serious about trading Quickley? We’re going to find out fairly soon.
