NBA Trade Rumors: The Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, and Milwaukee Bucks are three teams that have expressed interest in Cam Reddish.
Even after making the big splash acquisition of Jalen Brunson during the offseason, the New York Knicks still have some figuring out to do about their roster and rotation. And recent rumblings suggest that the Knicks could be one of the more active teams ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline.
One interesting trade candidate on the team is Cam Reddish, who was acquired by the Knicks at last year’s NBA Trade Deadline but hasn’t found a defined role with the team yet. If the Knicks do decide to trade him, the market could be interesting.
According to a recent report, the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, and Milwaukee Bucks are three teams that have expressed interest in the Knicks forward. Whether or not he actually gets moved ahead of the deadline remains to be seen, but the fact that there is interest could be the first step in that taking place.
It would be surprising if the New York Knicks didn’t trade Cam Reddish
Considering that Reddish is going to be a restricted free agent after the season and that he’s fallen out of the rotation in New York, it would be extremely surprising if the Knicks didn’t at the very least explore his trade market. The smart play would be to try and recoup an asset for a player that is unlikely to re-sign during the offseason.
Nevertheless, trading Reddish could be easier said than done. And it’s not just the fact that whoever acquires him won’t have much time to decide if he’s worth an extension and how much that extension should be.
It’s also the fact that his career, at least thus far, has been a confusing one to decipher. He had a good start to his career during his first two seasons with the Atlanta Hawks and then things kind of took a turn for the worse.
He fell out of grace in Atlanta and was traded to New York. With the Knicks, he’s fallen out of the team’s rotation and is likely headed for another change of scenery.
While it makes sense for the Knicks to trade Reddish ahead of the trade deadline, it’s a lot more complicated than it seems. Even if a market for him develops.
