Caleb Martin, Miami Heat
It may be strange to see Caleb Martin on this list. But he becomes trade-eligible for the Miami Heat on December 15. The reason why I have him on this list is not that I believe the Heat will be sellers at the trade deadline – even if I believe they will be, but that’s a different conversation for a different day.
But if the Heat wants to make an upgrade this season, it’s hard to envision in which Martin wouldn’t be an option. He’s blossomed into a really useful player for the Heat and is on a really affordable contract. I don’t believe the Heat will trade him but if the right power forward comes available, they could probably use Martin as a piece of a deal.
For as good as Martin has been this season for the Heat starting at the 4, he’s not a 4. And that has been part of the Heat’s struggles this season. And if they get a starting 4 ahead of the trade deadline, some of Martin’s value to the team declines.
