NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, the Los Angeles Lakers offered the Detroit Pistons a future first-round pick for Bojan Bogdanovic.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to Detroit Pistons veteran forward Bojan Bogdanovic. That shouldn’t come as a surprise. Bogdanovic is a veteran scorer that would absolutely help the Lakers. A possible pursuit of Bogdanovic is not about whether he’s worth it, it’s more about whether the Lakers could afford him.
According to a recent report, the Lakers reportedly offered (or are offering, assuming that the offer remains on the table) a future first-round pick (with some protections) and salary filler for Bogdanovic. You would have to imagine that the protections were not something the Pistons were thrilled with, which is likely the reason he has not been traded.
Are the Detroit Pistons ready to trade Bojan Bogdanovic?
Despite that, I believe that a fair question to ask is whether or not the Pistons are actually ready to trade Bogdanovic. He’s having one of the best seasons of his career to date and could be a huge asset for a young, developing team next season (when you would expect some level of growth and progression).
Would having the experience of Bogdanovic be more valuable to the Pistons than one of LA’s future first-round picks (which would likely be highly protected)? If I had to guess, we’re probably looking at a top-12 protected pick.
I’m not sure if Detroit is going to be running to make that deal. The Lakers’ pick could be valuable in a few years. On the other hand, it could essentially be a second-round pick if they are good.
It would make sense for the Pistons to wait out the Bogdanovic market, at least up until the NBA Trade Deadline. Detroit shouldn’t be in a rush to move Bogdanovic. At the same time, the Pistons don’t want to miss out on selling high on this season he’s having.
The Pistons have a big decision to make. If they do get to a point where they move Bogdanovic, you’d have to imagine that the Lakers will be involved, one way or another, in a possible bidding war.
