The Toronto Raptors are still trying to find their footing heading into the thick of the season. Though, with the NBA Trade Deadline just a couple of months away, the Raptors will need to decide pretty soon how they want to approach the remainder of the year.
Will they decide to go all-in on this season, try to retool somewhat heading into the next 2-3 years, or take on another tactic? The Raptors have one of the best front offices in the league and should be a team that many are keeping a close eye on.
And according to a recent report, the Raptors are a team that could potentially be a surprise seller at the NBA Trade Deadline. At least that’s what the expectation is around the league if Toronto can’t turn around their somewhat slow start to the season.
Why the Toronto Raptors could emerge as a seller
It may be a bit odd to suggest that the Raptors may emerge as a seller at the trade deadline but when you look at the circumstances, it may not be all that surprising. Currently, the Raptors are 13-14 and currently out of the top 8 in the Eastern Conference standings.
They have not taken the step forward that many expected them to take this season but still have an immensely bright future with Scottie Barnes. But perhaps it may be time for the Raptors to recalibrate and retool around their young star.
At the very least, it should be an option for the Raptors. I don’t think this is something they will follow through with it completely but it also wouldn’t be surprising if the Raptors elected to make a move or two that would “suggest” somewhat of a selling period for the team.

The Raptors have one of the most talented teams in the league. It may not be as balanced as perhaps the front office would like but they have enough talent on the roster where they could have options leading up to the NBA Trade Deadine. If nothing else, the Raptors are a team to keep a close eye on.
