NBA Trade Rumors: The New York Knicks have previously expressed interest in acquiring OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors.

The New York Knicks are currently one of the hottest teams in the NBA. At 17-13, the Knicks have won seven games in a row and are sitting in sixth in the Eastern Conference standings. They are just 1.5 games out o the 4th seed and seem to be trending in the right direction.

It remains to be seen if they’ve solved all their early-season issues but there is hope that this team has begun to turn the corner on their season.

Despite all that positivity, it’s clear that the Knicks are a player or two from being a championship contender in the East. And heading into the NBA Trade Deadline, it wouldn’t be surprising if the team attempted to make a big move.

According to a recent report, one move that the team seems to be open to is a trade for OG Anunoby. The team reached out with interest recently.

The Toronto Raptors have not yet pivoted to a seller just yet but if it were to come to that, Anunoby is an interesting potential trade candidate. And if he were to come available, there would be plenty of teams interested.

Would the New York Knicks be willing to go all-in for OG Anunoby?

I don’t think it’s a real surprise that the Knicks, a team still looking for the final piece to their championship puzzle, would be interested in Anunoby. Even if it was just the front office sniffing around, it’s smart that New York would do their due diligence.

However, the big question is whether or not Anunoby is a player that the Knicks should be willing to go all-in for. Especially if recent speculation by ESPN’s Zach Lowe is accurate in that the cost for acquiring Anunoby would mirror what the Cleveland Cavaliers had to give up (young players, three future first-round picks, and pick swaps) for Donovan Mitchell during the offseason.

If that is indeed the case, New York would have to part ways with a good portion of its assets to get him in the door. Quite frankly, if the team was a bit apprehensive to go all-in for Mitchell during the offseason, I’m not sure how the approach would be for a player that is probably a bit lower on the star totem pole.

The Knicks, likely along with a collection of other teams, are going to keep an eye on the situation that is going on in Toronto. And if Anunoby becomes a player that could be had at the NBA Trade Deadline, there should be a healthy bidding war for his services.
