NBA Trade Rumors: The Charlotte Hornets are open to moving Terry Rozier ahead of next month’s NBA Trade Deadline.

As one of the three worst teams in the league (in terms of record), the expectation is that the Charlotte Hornets could be in line to make some big moves at the NBA Trade Deadline. This is likely a team that should be full-on sellers at the deadline but it remains to be seen if they’ll move forward with that plan.

Charlotte has a few veteran pieces that could go a long way in helping a contender down the stretch and those are the players that the team should look to move at the deadline in an attempt to help jumpstart the team’s next rebuild.

Looking at their roster, there really should be one untouchable heading into the trade deadline – LaMelo Ball. After that, any other player on the roster should be available over the course of the next few weeks. It’s unknown if that is indeed the case, but it seems that at least one of the team’s big names could be had.

According to a recent report, the Hornets are open to the idea of trading Terry Rozier ahead of next month’s NBA Trade Deadline.

What could the trade market be for Terry Rozier?

Rozier is averaging 21 points, five assists, and four rebounds on 41 percent shooting this season with the Hornets. On the surface, he’s a player that can make a pretty big impact on a team that is trying to take the next step in its progression.

The big question, of course, is what the Hornets would want in exchange for Rozier at the deadline. After this season, Rozier still has two guaranteed years on his contract with a team option for a third. At roughly $23.5 million over the next two seasons, his contract is affordable. It’s not a bargain but it also isn’t terrible. And certainly not for a player that can average 20 points per game.

You’d have to expect that the Hornets will likely be seeking draft compensation and an expiring contract. If the Hornets are going to pivot toward a full rebuild, those are two essentials in any deal with the team.

For many teams, that is doable. And that could make for quite the market for Rozier at the deadline. It may ultimately come down to whether or not the Hornets are truly set on moving him right now or waiting until the offseason.
