Why the trade would work for the Dallas Mavericks

This deal would solve much of the Mavs’ current issues. For one, it would give Luka Doncic a secondary playmaker, alleviating some of the pressure that he has in that department. The move would also ease some of the overall scoring pressure that Luka has as well.

But, most of all, this move would give the Mavs well-rounded depth that they don’t have at the moment. Injecting three capable rotation players while losing just one is a huge deal, and that would perhaps be the biggest upgrade for the Mavs in this proposed deal.

This move would legitimize the Mavs as a contender in the Western Conference and would only add to the intrigue that already exists heading into the playoffs. Losing a future first-round pick would hurt, but it could be worth it if it gives the Mavs a legit chance to make another deep run in the postseason.

There is one flaw with this move – the Mavs still don’t have a second star next to Luka. But the hope would be with this trade is that their overall depth would remedy the lack of a true second superstar.
