Why ESPN’s proposed trade works for the Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are reportedly looking for size and shooting at the trade deadline, and this move would address both of those needs for the team. While the Warriors may continue to be bullish about trading away their young core, it’s certainly something the team should explore if they are serious about extending this core’s championship window.

There are major questions revolving around the future of Draymond Green and, somewhat perfectly, adding both Washington and McDaniels would add insurance in the event that he does ultimately decide to move on from the team.

The Warriors may need a spark. Could they flip and switch and make a run, sure? But if there’s a move to make for the front office, it would be foolish to not make it.

It would be surprising if the Warriors didn’t emerge as a contender once the playoffs begin in the Western Conference. And a move at the trade deadline would all but cement that.
