Almost exactly a week out from the NBA Trade Deadline, the Toronto Raptors remain one of the most intriguing teams to keep an eye on. No one seems to know what exactly the team is going to do but there seems to be plenty of smoke coming from the front office.
Perhaps even too much smoke for there not to be some sort of fire before the NBA Trade Deadline. And one name that many around the league are keeping a close eye on is OG Anunoby.
According to Chris Haynes, there could already be a bidding war for Anunoby developing. And it would not be outrageous to say that we could continue to see one in the days leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline.
In addition to the already rumored interest that there is for Anunoby from the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns, this report throws in two other names that could be bidding against themselves for Anunoby.
Two other teams to watch heading into the OG Anunoby trade sweepstakes
The Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans are the other two teams that could be in on the Anunoby sweepstakes. Both the Grizzlies and Pelicans have the necessary draft capital and young players that it would theoretically take to strike a deal with the Raptors. Still, less than a week before the trade deadline, there is plenty that needs to be figured out on this front.
For example, how serious is Toronto about trading Anunoby? We know that there are whispers that Anunoby may want out of Toronto but not a ton that we’re hearing from the Raptors’ point of view. They normally keep things like this close to their chest but there is also no indication that they’re going to jump at the first opportunity to trade one of their most talented young players.
The next few days could be extremely telling into what we should and shouldn’t expect heading into the trade deadline. But if there’s one thing that has quickly become clear, it’s the fact that Anunoby is quickly becoming one of the focal targets heading into the deadline.
